I don’t often ‘chase birds’ as the phrase goes, but once in a while I will. When I read the reports of a Lewis’s Woodpecker (Melanerpes lewis) sighted near La Crosse, the 4th ever state record, I hoped it would stick around until I had a chance to go see it. As it turns out, it has remained at the same farm for over a month and i was fortunate to be able to find it. Below are some photos from that day and here is a link to the full-res photos on Flickr.
