Oliver Prairie is a small, dry hillside prairie remnant in Green County. As the location is not disclosed by the DNR, it will not be disclosed here. Permission is required for visiting.
I have found the site to be rather unremarkable, but this is in part due to the late summer season for both of my visits there. On these occasions, I have noted a relative lack of forb diversity, mainly consisting of goldenrods, asters, and a few gentians. Big and Little Bluestem were the dominant grasses observed. Its protection likely stems from its remnant status amongst a sea of agricultural fields. This is on the revisit list for late spring/early summer 2015.
